Email [email protected]. Please include your macOS version and what you were doing. In the app, Settings ▸ Diagnostics ▸ Send by email adds a report with your version and recent technical events, never your note or transcript text. Bugs can also go to GitHub, but email gets a faster reply.

Turn on the AI

The AI is optional. It writes notes from lectures, makes quizzes and guides, and tutors you. With a hosted engine you bring your own key and pay the AI company directly.

1. Make an account at your provider (platform.openai.com, platform.deepseek.com or console.anthropic.com) and add a little credit. A ChatGPT Plus subscription does not include API access.
2. Create an API key and copy it. It is shown once.
3. In Rostrum open Settings ▸ Intelligence. Pick the engine (OpenAI-compatible, with the provider, or Claude), paste the key, press Save, then Test.

Your key is kept in your Mac’s Keychain. We recommend ChatGPT or Claude. The free On-device engine needs no key but is much weaker, and it needs a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence.

Your Pro code

Open Settings ▸ Plan, paste your code, press Activate, then Restart. Your code works on any Mac you use. Lost it? Email [email protected] and we’ll send it again.

Moving from StudyBar

Rostrum is the new name of StudyBar. Quit StudyBar, then move it to the Trash. Your data stays where it is and Rostrum picks it up. Install Rostrum from the download page.

Connect your Canvas calendar

1. In Canvas, open your Calendar and copy the Calendar Feed link.
2. In Rostrum open Calendar and press Sources & filters….
3. Choose Connect Canvas (no API needed) and paste the link. Due dates stay up to date.
